What a beautiful day in Venice. It was sunny, but not hot, and the 5
Gs were happy to be out and about. Our first thing on the agenda was
St. Mark's Square. We got a little lost on the way there, but that is
part of the fun in Venice.
The kids LOVED feeding the birds in the square. Loved. I personally
find pigeons disgusting,(like rats with wings) but thankfully J is
'the fun one' and helped the kids. He even let them land on him! We
have a treasure hunt book for Venice, like we did for Florence, and
the we got 3 points for feeding the birds, 3 for letting them land on
one of us, and 5 for washing up after! Another thing the kids have
loved with the treasure hunting is looking for the symbol of Venice, a
winged lion, all over town. We've already found nearly 50! It is so
fun to have the kids so observant and alert. They really get into it.
After the birds we walked around and saw some other Venice sights -
the Bridge of Sighs and the Rialto Bridge - then got some lunch and
hoofed it back home for rest time. We haven't made a habit of taking
mid day naps, but it was really nice to crash for once.
Dinner tonight was Chinese. Such a treat after WEEKS of pizza and
tortellini!
Ciao!

So funny that you go to Venice and eat Chinese! It does sound like you were eating a ton of tortellini, though! Those treasure maps sound really cool; I'll have to remember that if we ever take the kids there.
